31 Aug Words to Ponder and Create With
Are you familiar with my “Words to Ponder” column on this site? It’s a place where—when the spirit moves me—I quote something that someone wrote that provokes my pondering. My contemplating. My mulling. My imagining. My conversing with them. It could be a few lines from a poet, a sentence or two from a philosopher, or a pun or provocation from a humorist. My posting of these has been my way of inviting you to do the same.
But I want to do this pondering with others, not just for others. And so, my colleagues and I have designed a way we can do this together in real time. It’s a 5-week gathering we’ve called “Words to Ponder and Create With: Let’s Develop with the Gifts of Lois Holzman’s Favorite Poets and Philosophers.”
I invite you to join me in playful encounters with world shapers and changers whose words are sprinkled across the pages of my “Words to Ponder” column. I invite you to play around with these short passages and conversations.
I envision these 5 weeks as building on my “Become a Developmentalist” workshops. We’ll construct a hands-on, “maker space” for collective pondering and appreciation: What can we build upon and complete with these conceptual/revolutionary “offers?” How shall we open our ears and hearts, roll up our sleeves, and play with these meaty provocations?
Even if you’ve never read my column, I welcome you and your friends and colleagues into a “developmental learning lab” as we together practice widening our gaze, seeing new offers, questioning our assumptions, and creatively completing each other.
