Social Therapeutics: A Search for Method for Our Times
This certificate program I lead along with Institute faculty is an opportunity for an in-depth study of social therapeutics. The course offers a thorough exploration of the foundations, politics, philosophy and community-based applications of social therapeutics as a group performatory approach to human development and learning. The International Class
A “magical and mundane” 10-month program I lead with Institute faculty and guest presenters from across the NYC “development community.” The program introduces and develops social therapeutics as a new form of social activism. We combine three residencies in NYC coupled with seminars, supervision, and project development sessions conducted online. It’s open to practitioners, social entrepreneurs and scholars across all disciplines from the NYC area, across the US and throughout the world. More
Coaching & Customized Course of Study
The Institute offers flexible learning options for professionals from a variety of fields to study the social therapeutic method outside of a formalized training program. Individualized courses of study are designed to meet the needs and concerns of students interested in:
• A New Form of Social Activism
• Postmodern Methodology
• Creative Community Building
• Leadership Development
• A New Learning Model (for all ages)
Revolutionary Conversations
Most semesters I lead online and in-person conversations on a range of methodological / political issues in psychology and education, sometimes in conjunction with colleagues. Most recently, I led a “Revolutionary Conversation” with Robert Whitaker, “Mad In America: Where Do We Go From Here?” Another popular conversation examined “The Myth of Psychology.”
