Study and Train with Lois Holzman

As Director of the East Side Institute, Lois has launched a number of study and training initiatives and plays a leading training role in them. Here’s a current sampling:

Introducing Social Therapeutics: A Performatory Approach to Human Development and Learning
A 5-week online course with Institute director Lois Holzman exploring social therapeutics as a methodology for human social-emotional-intellectual-cultural development in diverse settings (psychotherapy, youth development, education and the workplace). Course begins in October, January and April. Sign up online at www.eastsideinstitute.org/events.

Social Therapeutics Online
A 20-week online certificate program in the methodology of social therapeutics. This is a unique opportunity to study with Institute founders Lois Holzman and Fred Newman and explore in depth the foundations, politics, philosophy and community-based applications of this activity-theoretic, performatory approach to human development and learning. The International Class
A 10-month program in the Institute’s approach to human development and community building. The program combines residencies in New York City and seminars, supervision, and project development sessions conducted online. Open to practitioners and scholars across all disciplines from the NYC area, across the US and throughout the world. Download application at http://www.eastsideinstitute.org/InternationalClass.


Developing Teachers Program
A 10-month program in the Institute’s developmental learning approach, emphasizing improvisation and performance. Open to NYC area public and charter school teachers. Download application at http://www.eastsideinstitute.org/DevelopingTeachersAnnouncement. Carrie Lobman, Director.

Therapist Training Program
One and two year postgraduate program designed for professionals eligible to practice psychotherapy in New York State: social workers, mental health counselors, psychologists, registered nurses, psychiatrists, creative arts therapists, and marriage and family therapists. Individualized clinical training and/or supervision can also be arranged for those who live outside New York City.
