I’ll be in London the end of March.
Happy to be doing a workshop organized by All Stars London friends
Workshop: Developing in a World in Crisis
March 29, 1-4 pm
Around the world – and right in our own neighbourhoods – the disparity between rich and poor affects us all. In times of great austerity and instability it can be hard to foster productive and fulfilling lives for ourselves, our students, our children and our communities.
This FREE workshop will introduce you to the revolutionary new approach to human development that is reinitiating hope and creativity in communities all over the world. You will hear about the amazing success of the All Stars Project’s inner-city youth programs in the USA and the East Side Institute’s practice of a “psychology of becoming” embraced by therapists, educators and community organizers internationally. And experience for yourself what it’s like to create “stages” for development!
Join Lois Holzman, developmental psychologist and play and performance revolutionary, for an afternoon of developmental learning work and play that will offer inspiring ideas for your work as a teacher, drama educator or volunteer community builder.
Dr Holzman, Director of the East Side Institute in New York City, holds a PhD from Columbia University and has written and edited ten books on human development and learning, psychology, education and social therapy. As an activist scholar, she build bridges between academic and community-based practices and is well known for her pioneering work in exploring the human capacity to perform and its fundamentality in learning how to learn. Lois is also the organizer of the bi-annual Performing the World conferences, a cross-disciplinary gathering promoting a performance approach in addressing educational, mental health, health and social policy issues.
