Thanks for you feedback, Tim. I know many many teachers who also feel dismyed and stuck. Can you say something about you "small continuation school"?

I enjoyed this piece and quickly shifted to Performing a Life. There I learned about the growth of the concept of relational development versus individual ( inclusion seems so much healthier than exclusion). Also it gave rise to a greater understanding of learning disability as socially constructed. Simply the fact that the question was raised somewhere gave me a new way to view what goes on in school in terms of "academic failure" being a racial construct. That was enlightening. The antidote to cynicism was also a joyful observation. I have thought of being a teacher as an antidote, but over time it has lost its effectiveness as my isolation and dismay with institutional stagnation has become sour. I must delve deeper into the group dynamics since our small continuation school seems like a fertile ground for developmental study.
