Hi Lois,

"Thought is not expressed but completed in the word" realizing the implication this statement has been deeply therapeutic. Our conversation the other day where you reminded me of this made a huge difference in transforming me as a writer. Being caught by the idea that language only represents was very painful, because the view that dominates our instrumentalist world is that your language is as good as how it reflects "reality", and I have always struggled in performing language in this particular way. How ever, language as complementing, writing as writing poetry, not feeling obligated to represent exactly what is in your mind, and in fact finding this meaningless, is so profound and liberating. And as a bonus complementing thoughts with others creatively, not unlike music and complementing with others and creating a song.

I've been doing writing exercises everyday now and been enjoying them so much, it is like playing, it is as speaking like Lila, my two year old daughter, who imitates our speaking without worrying about saying the right thing, just playing her words like music and poetry with us.
